Which Type of Entrepreneur Are You? Discover the Path to Your Money Tree

Do you dream of planting your own money tree? A business that doesn’t just pay the bills but creates a life of freedom, wealth, and purpose? If you’ve decided to take the entrepreneurial path, congratulations—you’ve made a powerful choice! But the next big question is, what kind of entrepreneur will you be?

Entrepreneurship isn’t a one-size-fits-all journey; it’s a landscape filled with diverse paths, each with its unique rewards and challenges. Understanding where your strengths lie and what excites you is the key to unlocking success. So, let’s dive in and explore the four main entrepreneurial types, or as I like to call them, the “income stream archetypes”—Intrapreneurs, Extrapreneurs, Infopreneurs, and Autopreneurs. This will help you identify your special niche and, ultimately, your ideal money tree.

Intrapreneur: The Influencer

Do you find yourself naturally guiding others, sharing advice, or making persuasive recommendations? If you’re a master at influencing, leading, and connecting, you might be an Intrapreneur. These entrepreneurs work within existing frameworks as consultants, commission-based salespeople, or part-owners.

Think about network marketers, insurance agents, or investment advisors. They enjoy residual income through commissions and ongoing sales. For those who thrive in team environments and love building relationships, intrapreneurship offers the flexibility of entrepreneurship without the isolation of going solo.

Ask Yourself:

  • Are you good at influencing decisions?
  • Do you enjoy guiding people towards solutions?

Extrapreneur: The Creator

Do you live to create, entertain, and inspire? Extrapreneurs are the visionaries—the artists, musicians, and entertainers who thrive on creativity. They build residual income by creating something once (like a song, artwork, or game) and letting it generate income over time through royalties or licensing.

Think of actors, songwriters, or even game designers. If the thought of expressing yourself creatively and getting paid for it excites you, you might be on the path of an Extrapreneur.

Ask Yourself:

  • Are you an artist at heart? Do you love to entertain or inspire others?
  • Would you enjoy making money from creative projects long after they’re completed?

Infopreneur: The Educator

Do you excel at organizing, teaching, and explaining complex information? Infopreneurs make money by transforming their knowledge, expertise, and skills into products. They might write books, create online courses, or offer consultancy services. This is where your ideas, knowledge, and experience become cash-flowing assets.

Consider authors, coaches, and software developers. They don’t just provide services; they package their expertise into products that can be sold repeatedly, generating passive income.

Ask Yourself:

  • Do you love to teach and simplify complex topics?
  • Can you turn your expertise into a product that others would buy?

Autopreneur: The Investor

Autopreneurs are strategic, analytical, and detail-oriented. They focus on investments that generate returns without needing constant oversight. This could be real estate, dividend stocks, or even automated online businesses. The goal is clear: set it up, and let the profits flow in, hands-free.

Think of real estate investors, owners of automated e-commerce stores, or those who invest in venture projects. They’re not tied down by day-to-day operations, enjoying the fruits of their strategic planning and investment acumen.

Ask Yourself:

  • Do you enjoy analyzing and comparing different projects?
  • Are you good at spotting opportunities where others see risk?

Creating Your Money Tree

The term “money tree” symbolizes a business model that allows you to grow income passively, without your constant presence. Unlike traditional “monkey-trap” businesses that require continuous effort and attention, a money tree business grows on its own, providing long-term income streams.

As Gary Trudeau once said, “to create a lifestyle that does not require my presence.” That’s the goal! This isn’t about chaining yourself to a job you created; it’s about building a business that works for you, even when you’re not around.

Choose Wisely and Focus

The decision to become an entrepreneur is just the beginning. You need to find a path that resonates with your strengths, passions, and vision for your future. Each entrepreneurial type has its own approach to achieving financial freedom. The trick is not just to find what pays but to find what aligns with who you are and how you want to live.
