Who is Edward Terry?

Most people arrive here because something is off. Not dramatically, and not in a way anyone else can see. The company is built. The numbers work. The obligations are met. But privately, most weeks, it feels less like you are running the business and more like it is running you, and the direction it has taken was never quite the one you chose.

That is what this work is for.

I help the owner who built a capable business, and can feel both themselves and the organisation they lead beginning to drift, get back out in front of it, and set both free to do what they were built for.

For most people who find me, that description is more specific than it first sounds. They are capable and outwardly successful, the person everyone else relies on. They have spent long enough being available, dependable and indispensable that the business now runs through them for everything, and somewhere in it they have lost track of what they actually set out to build. Not for lack of awareness. Usually they have too much of it. They can see the pattern clearly. What they have not been able to do, yet, is change the thing underneath that keeps repeating it.

That is the work. Not fixing the surface, but rebuilding the structure that has been running it all along, in the leader first, and then in the business.

The Long Way Here

The soul-led work began in 1984. Immersive theatrical events, live artistic direction, large-scale special effects for national events, and work with English Heritage. The instinct toward consciousness, story, and what happens when people are placed inside a precisely designed environment was present from the start.

Then came thirty-five years of structural mastery in the outer world. Physics. Military avionics software. Working on the contactless smart-card technology that became Oyster and tap-to-pay. Early internet consulting across EMEA. A restaurant group built from scratch to four locations and fourteen years of operation. Throughout all of it, I was the person who held things together. The capable one. The reliable one. The person who made other people’s problems disappear.

What I did not realise was that I was disappearing inside it.

In 2020, my body made the decision I had refused to make for myself. A haemorrhagic stroke. Not a warning sign. A full stop.

What followed was not a comeback. There was nothing worth returning to. It was a complete rebuild: of identity, of self-worth, and of an understanding of what I was actually here to do. The Life Mastery Book was written during that rebuild, from inside it, not from the outside. That is where its authority comes from. The EMPOWER framework did not emerge from theory. It emerged from living it.

In 2026, The Life Mastery Book received the Sovereign Life Mastery Award.

What the Rebuild Uncovered

The acting career deepened. Not as an escape from the interior work, but as the fullest expression of what I do at my core: inhabiting archetypes, practising full visibility, and understanding from the inside what it actually costs to be genuinely seen.

You might spot me in Napoleon, directed by Ridley Scott, Star Wars: Andor, Mickey 17, directed by Bong Joon-ho, or Blitz, directed by Steve McQueen.

Film sets where three hundred people occupy the same space, and there is nowhere to disappear to. That is where I learned something I now bring to the leaders I work with: presence under pressure is not a readiness you arrive at in advance. It is a practice. You practise it in the moment, or you do not practise it at all.

I also study Shuyi, applied Chinese cultural philosophy, which sharpens how I read character and the relationship between an individual and the collective they lead.

The Work Now

I work with the owners of established, capable businesses who have spent too long building the whole thing around everyone else’s needs, and have quietly become the bottleneck it now runs through. The symptom is usually a lack of clarity, direction, or the sense that something important has drifted. The real problem is almost always the identity and the structure underneath it, in the person first, and then in the company.

I can bring all of this to bear because I have lived the breadth of it. I have built businesses from nothing, and I have brought order to some of the largest organisations there are. I have spent years on film sets learning what it costs to be seen, and forty years studying consciousness and how people truly operate. In 2020, a stroke stopped me from keeping those threads apart, and they became one. That is why my view is holistic: the person and the business working as one, aligned and coherent. I am not a consultant who studied business, nor a coach who later found spirituality. I draw on all of it at once: the builder, the engineer, the storyteller and the guide, brought to bear on the same problem, and that is the advantage I bring to yours.

The work is not cheerleading. It is structural. The question we work toward is not what you should do next. It is who you are and what your business is for when you stop making yourself the answer to everything. The answer to that changes everything else.
